The player behind the music
Dean Betts is a Geelong-based guitarist and songwriter with over two decades of experience performing across Australia. His playing draws on a deep love of blues, roots, and Americana — warm, expressive, and always in service of the song.
Dean cut his teeth in the regional circuit with Jason Bull before co-founding Rogues & Scholars, a band that built a loyal following across Victoria's pub and festival scene. From there came Black & Blue, and eventually Big Love Thief — the acoustic duo he formed with Jason Bull that has become a fixture at vineyards, beer gardens, and boutique festivals.
Alongside his band work, Dean has remained in demand as a session guitarist and solo performer, bringing the same care and musicality to intimate gigs as he does to the big stage.
